So now we are shortlisting to decide on a name... any suggestions welcome! She is a girl. With a white-tipped tail and a white fluffy bib. (A springer/lab cross.)

But that's a bit too much like Charlie. You don't want to have a name that ends in y/ie as it will be too confusing; I still get Freddie and Alfie mixed up.

    Scrumples

    Pudding

Dave. Not sure why, just a great name for a dog.

what about santa? I usually hate dogs, but that is a really cute one. I had a head of year called Mr Latus adn he looked like a watchdog, so if I had a dog I'd call it Latus. my husband wants to call one of our pets 'Nipples' cos it sounds cute but would be funny to call across a park

That is the second time Dave has been suggested. I think it will be the most popular baby name in 50 years' time.

Jodie, you hate dogs? How can this be true?! Maybe you have just never met a dog this cute...

Holly is the current favourite, as it's festive but also a 'proper' name; I like Santa (hints of the Simpsons). But Holly sounds a lot like Charlie, which would result in a lot of (quite amusing) confusion.

Also, if she were a boy, her name would be Henry. Or Murphy! Both great names. Girl names are so hard!

Charlie just stood in front of the screen for about half an hour trying to decide whether she wants to go outside (via the window) or in the airing cupboard (for a nap). I would go for the latter.
